How a Sky Blue Laptop Transformed My Workspace and Work Style

This week, I got a brand new laptop. And yes, I was probably more excited than I should admit, but come on, it’s sky blue! It’s sleek, fresh, and honestly, it’s given my desk a bit of a glow up.

But what surprised me was how that pop of colour got me thinking about my workspace, and more specifically, how I work.

As I started setting things up, I realised how much I was craving a tidy, organised space. Typically, as someone with Sunshine Yellow energy, I tend to let my workspace get a little messy (creative chaos, you could say!) But after unboxing the sky blue laptop, it hit me: I was having a definite Cool Blue moment.

If you're familiar with Insights Discovery, you’ll know that Cool Blue energy is all about precision, thoughtfulness, and working in a structured way. And whether it was my colour coded sticky notes, neatly arranged pens, or the satisfying symmetry of my new setup, I was definitely leaning into that mindset.

Why Colour (and Setup) Matters

It turns out, our surroundings can say a lot about us. Whether you’re naturally drawn to bright, bold spaces or calm, minimalist ones, your desk setup can support, or sometimes clash with, your natural working style.

For me, the sky blue laptop didn’t just brighten up my desk, it gave me a nudge to create a space that actually works for me. And it reminded me just how relevant our Insights Discovery colour energies can be, even in the small things.

From Desk Vibes to Self-Awareness

At LearningCog, we talk a lot about self-awareness, communication, and understanding others. But this was a nice reminder that sometimes, the most unexpected things, like the colour of your laptop, can get you thinking differently.

So, here’s my takeaway: whether you’re a Fiery Red powering through tasks, an Earth Green creating harmony in your space, a Sunshine Yellow adding some creative flair, or a Cool Blue getting the details just right, your workspace is a reflection of you.

And if a sky blue laptop can remind me of that, maybe it’s time to ask yourself: what colour are you working in?
