Exploring the Future at the Learning Technologies Exhibition
LearningCogs Day Out: Exploring the Future at the Learning Technologies Exhibition
What happens when a team of curious minds swaps their desks for a day of inspiration, innovation, and interactive tech? LearningCogs Day Out, of course.
Last week, the LearningCog team packed up their notebooks and headed to the iconic ExCeL London for the annual Learning Technologies Exhibition—Europe’s leading showcase for workplace learning and development. It wasn’t just a change of scenery; it was a deep dive into the future of how people learn, grow, and thrive at work.
First Impressions: Buzzing with Possibilities
Walking into the exhibition hall felt like stepping into a tech-powered playground for learning professionals. With over 200 exhibitors, buzzing demo zones, and breakout sessions around every corner, it was clear we were in for a stimulating ride.
From VR training simulations to AI-driven learning platforms, the room was filled with bold ideas that challenged how we think about workplace learning. The excitement was contagious.
Highlights From the Floor
Here are a few of the standout moments from our day:
-
Immersive Tech on the Rise: We tested out virtual reality platforms that simulate real-world scenarios. The level of realism and emotional engagement was next-level.
-
AI-Powered Personalisation: Adaptive learning tech was everywhere. We were impressed by tools that respond to learner behaviour in real-time, tailoring content based on strengths and weaknesses.
-
The Power of Data: Several platforms showcased intuitive dashboards that turn learning data into actionable insights. It sparked plenty of ideas about how we could better track progress and impact across our own learning journeys.
-
People First, Always: Amid all the technology, there was a strong reminder that learning is still (and always will be) about people. Many speakers emphasised empathy, inclusion, and psychological safety as the true enablers of learning culture.
Reflections and Takeaways
One of the most powerful aspects of the day was the chance to explore what’s possible in the world of learning. Seeing how others are approaching challenges sparked lots of fresh thinking about our own practice—whether it’s enhancing engagement through microlearning, enriching onboarding experiences with immersive elements, or designing content that’s more human-centered and inclusive.
Even more valuable was the opportunity to connect as a team, share perspectives, and step away from the day-to-day to think bigger. (Oh and check us out on the Learning Technologies 360 booth!)
